How was your application process at SOMIC?
Quick and painless! SOMIC is one of the few employers that respond quickly to an application and does not waste unnecessary time. The application itself was less about "having to prove yourself" and more about getting to know each other with a lot of expertise and good advice. At that point you already feel like a “family member”.
Why did you choose this job and how does your typical workday look like?
SOMIC was one of the few employers that gave me the opportunity to change direction after my studies. They even encouraged me to do so. In the end, both sides benefit enormously from it.
A typical day consists of an open atmosphere in the department with lots of coordination, great support, and opportunities for development to the extent that suits you best. The workday varies: Sometimes I sit at the computer to work on current tasks, sometimes I support colleagues in the comissioning hall by ensuring that the machines run smoothly. Thanks to remote work and short-notice vacation, I am able to achieve an optimal balance between my professional and private life.
What do you like most about your job?
The main thing is the friendly atmosphere in general, but also the wonderful spirit with colleagues both in the office and at non-work events.
Two things particularly stand out for me: When I get up in the morning, I don't wish I had the day off, but rather I look forward to the challenges ahead and seeing the co-workers in the office. I also enjoy working for an employer with whom I can fully identify and that's easy for me at SOMIC.
What are the biggest challenges you face at work?
From the simple "The machine is not working and the errors need to be fixed" to organizational topics and training for colleagues and other departments, there is a wide range of different tasks. I like the switch between order business and development.
Why is SOMIC a good fit for you?
Personally, I find it easy to represent a company that thinks progressively, has the right vision for the future, without losing its roots or growing too quickly. The company is constantly evolving while keeping employees in focus. SOMIC has remained a family-oriented employer with an international orientation. Modernity paired with down-to-earth attitude is what I'm looking for, and together with my great colleagues, it's easy to make that happen.
